Experienced therapist in Bristol & Nth Somerset

Providing counselling and pyschotherapy in North Somerset (BS41), on the border with south and central Bristol, I am an experienced therapist working with individual and relationship issues. My aim is to help people better understand themselves and their particular dilemmas, find ways to 'grow' themselves, and ultimately to find greater contentedness. Whilst anxiety & depression, 'difficult' emotional problems, trauma  and relationship struggles are probably the most common concerns, there are many types of personal matters that people want help with. I have a personalised style, steeped in real listening, noticing and attending, which blends some of the key therapeutic approaches within an integrative relational framework and inevitably is different for each client depending on your issues, your context and how our work evolves. I believe that all our relating is embodied - mind/body - and so while this is talking therapy, my work draws holistically on the complex nuances of inter-relating. I am professionally qualified, professionally affiliated & accrdited, and have been in independent therapy practice since 2003.

I am based at Yanley Court in Long Ashton, a tranquil city retreat at the gateway to Bristol, easily accessible from both North Somerset
and central, south and west locations of Bristol, with ample free parking - click here for practice location.

My clients are women, men, and young adults (16+). Presenting issues include:
  • Challenging experiences: abuse, relationships, bereavement, parenting, work issues
  • Struggling with difficult emotional states: anger, trauma, eating issues, anxiety
  • Overwhelming moods: depression, grief, stress
  • Personal concerns: intimacy, self worth, sexuality
  • Just knowing there are things to address

Professional help for emotional well-being

Taking the first step can be hard. As counselling involves working closely with someone you don't know, I would encourage you to come for a ‘Taster’ Session, to see if I might be the right person for you to do your therapy with, and for us to discuss your concerns, hopes and expectations.

What clients say

It can be very re-assuring to hear what current or previous clients say about my work and style.
For privacy reasons and because quotes out of context can be mis-leading I have decided not to include any client feedback or testimonials.

As an alternative I would encourage you to contact me either by phone or email to discuss further whether and how I could help you.
